Dominion House

https://www.dominionhouseguthrie.com/

Before the Dominion House became what we know today, it was the Masonic Children’s Home – one of the largest children’s facilities in Oklahoma at the time. The Masonic Children’s Home designed by architects Hawk and Parr and constructed by Campbell and Price. It’s an example of a classical Revival design.

Today, the facility is used mostly for weddings and other events. It does have a small hotel (14 rooms) which have been beautifully remodeled. We had a first floor room with a bathroom suite. If you are ever in the area of Guthrie, OK, you must stay at the Dominion House. We will be back for sure!!

Unfortunately, the website listed above isn’t well maintained. We saw no igloos! And the restaurant wasn’t in operation during our visit.

Pawhuska Drummond Ranch

For the many viewers of the Food Network’s Pioneer Women’s show hosted by Ree Drummond, you may wonder where is the show filmed. When visiting the Mercantile in Pawhuska, we got tickets to tour the filming sight on the Drummond Ranch outside of Pawhuska.

On the side of a hill overlooking the Ranch’s pasture land, sits a guest house where the cooking show is filmed. The kitchen and guest rooms were very interesting to tour. Next to the guest house is a building that contains a commercial kitchen (see the last few photos). The prep work for the show is done in this kitchen. Filming is done at different times of the year with many shows filmed at a time; then the filming crew leaves to awhile. When not filming, tours are available.

Pawhuska

Pawhuska is a city in and the county seat of Osage County, Oklahoma.

It was named after the 19th-century Osage chief, Paw-Hiu-Skah, which means “White Hair” in English. The Osage tribal government, which opened offices in Pawhuska in 1872 when its reservation was established in Indian Territory, continues to be based in Pawhuska.

Pawhuska is 57 miles (92 km) northwest of Tulsa, OK.

In 2016, The Food Network’s “Pioneer Woman” Ree Drummond opened The Mercantile on Main Street. The establishment includes a store and restaurant which serves up to 6,000 people per day. Drummond operates a boutique hotel, The PW Boarding House, and also offers tours of the blogger-turned-Food Network star’s cooking lodge on nearby Drummond Ranch, thus solidifying her place as a major economic force in Pawhuska.

The memorial is located in downtown Oklahoma City on the former site of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, which was destroyed in the 1995 bombing. This building was located on NW 5th Street between N. Robinson Avenue and N. Harvey Avenue.

The memorial was formally dedicated on April 19, 2000: the fifth anniversary of the bombing. The museum was dedicated and opened the following year on February 19.
