Guthrie, OK

Dominion House

https://www.dominionhouseguthrie.com/

Before the Dominion House became what we know today, it was the Masonic Children’s Home – one of the largest children’s facilities in Oklahoma at the time. The Masonic Children’s Home designed by architects Hawk and Parr and constructed by Campbell and Price. It’s an example of a classical Revival design.

Today, the facility is used mostly for weddings and other events. It does have a small hotel (14 rooms) which have been beautifully remodeled. We had a first floor room with a bathroom suite. If you are ever in the area of Guthrie, OK, you must stay at the Dominion House. We will be back for sure!!

Unfortunately, the website listed above isn’t well maintained. We saw no igloos! And the restaurant wasn’t in operation during our visit.

I am sure that most of you have heard of Chip and Joanna Gaines from the HGTV Fixer Upper TV series. Many have visited the Magnolia Market at the Silos. The market place has recently doubled in size.

There are many things to see and do at the Market.

Here is a photo collage of the Market and the new addition. The new addition includes a furniture store, coffee shop, 6 boutiques, church, baseball field with concession, and open air lounging areas.

Since completing a large expansion in 2014, the museum focuses on both the history of farming and the science and technology of modern agriculture. Want to learn about cotton? Exhibits take you from early hand harvesting to putting you behind the wheel of a modern cotton stripper in the Cotton Harvest Experience. You can also meet a hologram blacksmith in our shop, or talk to a farmer in the Bayer CropScience exhibit. Bring back memories as you walk through the antique tractors or swap stories with one of our volunteers. With a huge collection of antiques and machinery complimented by interactive kiosks with videos and games, there is something for everyone at the Bayer Museum of Agriculture. This blog contains only a few of the photos that were taken during our visit. It is a very good and entertaining museum. Make sure to visit the gift shop too. Enjoy!!
